Sulzbach is a small municipality in the Rhine-Main-agglomeration, hosting around 9300 inhabitants. The centre of the agglomeration, Frankfurt am Main, is only 15 kilometres away. Sulzbach is located at the southern border of the Taunus Mountains, a famous touristic attraction of the region. The economy is marked by many agricultural sites. The municipality is located in close vicinity to a highway and is accessible via suburban trains.
The city completed a concept for climate-friendly mobility in 2014 and many of the intended measures have already been implemented or are being implemented at the moment. Furthermore an integrated development concept for the whole city was adopted in 2018. It was elaborated with help of the participation of the inhabitants and includes 9 different mobility-related categories (traffic & mobility, flowing motor vehicle traffic, parking management, public transport, cycling, walking, agricultural transport, mobility management, development of extension areas). The concept seeks to serve as a strategic basis for city and mobility planning throughout the time period until 2030.
