Trbovlje is facing problems with negative migration growth. The municipality has intensive daily migration activity, where cars are still the most common means of transportation for commuters travelling to work.

Short trips are done by walking since all main destinations in the town are in a walkable distance although the pedestrian infrastructure is not very attractive. Cycling infrastructure is poorly developed and unconnected, but nevertheless, cycling is gaining popularity as means of transportation, specially in the town area.

There are local busses available but are mostly used only by senior citizens. The train station is not close to the town centre. Most people do not see public transportation as an attractive mode of mobility because it is not time efficient.
