2ND introductory meeting of the network in 2014 during the conference on “Road Infrastructure - the Precondition for the Development of the City of Płock and Its Neighbouring District” Płock, 27th June 2014 CIFAL Płock co-organized the conference on Road Infrastructure - the Precondition for the Development of the City of Płock and Its Neighbouring District. Transport infrastructure is widely recognized as factor determining the level of socio-economic development of a country and its economic growth. An undeveloped infrastructural network causes barriers to the free movement of people, goods, services, capital and production factors. The existing transport network in Poland appears to have a negative effect on the localization of foreign industries and services, on international trade with EU and bordering countries and on the competitiveness of Poland. More than a hundred specialists from local and national institutions from all around Poland participated in the international conference on „Road Infrastructure - the Precondition for the Development of the City of Płock and Its Neighbouring District” which took place on 27th June 2014 in the City Hall of Płock. The event was jointly organized by the International Centre for Local Development CIFAL Płock and the Mayor of Płock. Honorary Patronage of the event was taken by Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Poland. Mr Krzysztof Buczkowski, CEO of CIFAL, during the opening of the conference stressed that the sustainable transport stimulates the development not only within the local infrastructure. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the legal, financial and technical aspects of capacity of building the road infrastructure in Płock and its subregion. The conference was attended by the experts issue: General transport condition of the City of Płock (Mr. Jacek Thiem, Cejrowski & Krych Transport Engineer Office- Transport service of PKN Orlen Inc.); Impact of transport via pipelines on the functioning of the city (Mr. Sławomir Stachowicz, Pern Przyjaźń Inc.); Regional public transport planning (Mr. Bartłomiej Kolipiński, MBPR, Office in Warsaw); Regional public transport development- Mr. Andrzej Nowakowski (Mayor of the City of Płock); Functioning and development the roads network in the region of Płock (Mr. Łukasz Lendner, General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways); Functioning and development of railway network in the region of Płock (Mr. Remigiusz Paszkiewicz, PLK PKP Inc.); Financing of transport infrastructure in EU perspective 2014-2020 (Mr. Zbigniew Rynasiewicz, Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development); Airport Warszawa-Modlin plan development and its impact on regional infrastructure (Mr. Piotr Okieńczyk, Airoport Warszawa Modlin ltd.); The role of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans SUMP in building the transport infrastructure, Project ENDURANCE (Mr. Krzysztof Buczkowski, CEO of CIFAL Płock). All participants of the conference received a special edition of the Innovation&Development Magazine published by CIFAL Płock. The issue was released on the occassion of the conferene. It explores various aspects of transport infrastructure of the region focusing on the prospects of its development.
