Apeldoorn is the first municipality in the Netherlands to offer free guarded bicycle parking in the center (4 day parking and 1 night parking).

- Storage is impractical for short visit

These concerns were adressed in the design of the free guarded bicycle parking. / Onderzochte bezwaren zijn:
- stalling is te duur
- stalling is te ver van bezoekplek
- stalling is moeilijk te vinden
- stalling is onpraktisch bij kort bezoek
- stalling heeft te beperkte openingstijden
Aan deze bezwaren is bij het ontwerp van de gratis bewaakte fietsenstallingen tegemoet gekomen.
